Safe to say, our worlds changed in 2020 and, it was not romantic, not in the least. There is a bit of chance that romance authors might find a way to sew romance with sanitisers and masks, but most of us would not relate.

Many of us worked from home on and off or throughout 2020 and 2021. And here are some things we learned through the experience.

Mental health matters Mental health issues have long been a taboo in our society, but the blurring of the line between personal and professional brought to light a lot of habits and issues we oversee that can harm our mental health. Taking more stress and work than we can handle, the messed up the lifestyle to keep up with the rush, the sleeping patterns, and the toxic environment.
The epiphany of how much we can fare better without giving in to such malpractices shows how necessary taking care of our minds can be.

We are never independent As much as we'd like to keep to ourselves, and take pride in doing everything on our own, the lockdown gave us a good taste of what it can be like to be truly independent, or better to frame it as isolated. The calls to the service centers when the wifi was down, the communication with neighbours, close friends, and long-lost friends, just the need to not be alone. These were a slap on our faces wanting to avoid all social interactions.

We all need a break some of us are used to vacations, but not all of us know what a break means. To let go of all stress whether it be work or family is a privilege not all of us share. With the stress only increasing in those times, it is only clearer to everyone, how much everyone deserves at least a day of peace. Especially the women of the household.

Hope is an important thing It's not wrong to lose hope, at certain times it is inevitable. But at times like these, it would be better to borrow hope. Talk to people, ask for help, because hope is indeed a fickle but very necessary phenomenon. And the hope for a better tomorrow is all we have to survive on sometimes.

Some may prefer to continue to work from home, and the rest can't wait to get back to work, but all of us can agree - there are a lot of things on the work front that we can improve.
